My name is Assad Ansar. I was born and raised in Norway with strong Pakistani roots. I hold a master’s degree in architecture from NTNU and work full-time as an architect at a private company in Oslo.
From a young age, I’ve been fascinated by technology, especially cellphones. In the early 2000s, when mobile technology was evolving rapidly, I eagerly saved up to own the latest innovations. In 2006, during high school, I got my hands on the Nokia N70, featuring an impressive 2-megapixel camera—a breakthrough for its time. The image quality was remarkable, and it inspired me to start taking photos regularly. By the time I began my architecture studies, I invested in my first camera, a Canon 450D SLR with an 18-55mm kit lens. That marked the start of a journey where photography became an integral part of my life.
For me, the camera is more than just a tool—it’s my diary, journal, and blog. Capturing the world through my lens helps me remember the moments I’ve lived. Framing a scene allows me to focus on specific details amidst a sea of realities, helping me see and experience things I might otherwise overlook. This process deepens my understanding of the world and enriches my perspective.
My focus is on natural storytelling, capturing unique and fleeting moments that will never happen again. I have an adventurous spirit, and I love exploring new places and immersing myself in different cultures. Over time, I’ve specialized in architecture and travel photography, aiming to showcase the relationship between the built environment and the people who inhabit it.
I believe that great architecture and cities are those designed to be both functional and welcoming for people. Through my photography, I strive to highlight this human connection. To better understand the built environment, I emphasize the importance of scale and often incorporate natural elements to ground my images in reality.
I also believe that good photography can be created anywhere, at any time, as long as you approach the world with curiosity, an open mind, and—above all—patience. My hope is to inspire others to see the world through a lens, fostering a deeper connection with their surroundings and their own creative journeys.
